better luck next time!

Prize ribbons make everyone happy. Honorable Mentions make everyone feel above average, but not exceptionally great. For those who will never be number one, or two, or three, Honorable Mentions are like consolation tokens for work that was well done, but not dazzling.
Soon, Erica Freyberger (of Iceberger Gallery) and I will be launching our very special project in celebration of the Honorable Mention tradition. As life often reminds us in this competitive and cut-throat world, "Better luck next time!"

all of this is real

David Shrigley is one of the funniest, genuine artists working today. He throws all formal concerns aside for crude drawings that are conceptual and hilarious. If you ever need some cheering up and you have a quirky sense of humor, his light-hearted and brutally honest drawings are sure to make you LOL.

i wish...

...I had a parrot habitat. Just like this one.

In Ear Park

It's been quite awhile since an album has moved me the way Department of Eagles' "In Ear Park" has. The closest I can relate this feeling to is discovering something so inspiring that it heals you and leaves you content beyond reason. Its sound is both haunting and uplifting. I can only describe it as dreamy ghost-rock, which you might hear during a lonely night journey floating on a moonlit lake. I'm simply enamoured by this album's striking beauty.

first sprout of Spring

Spring is a magical time. Just when you think you can't take any more of Winter's overdue stay, things begin to bud and life returns in color. A few weeks ago, I planted some flowers and the first one sprouted up today! How adorable. I like watching things grow as a measure to my own progress.
